A Season of Change…
I’m a firm believer that we are constantly changing and growing, even if the growth seems slow. Of course I know many people who are set in their ways, but I think that life gives us experiences so that we have to change and adapt. What is serving you today may not serve you tomorrow. You might find a new hobby, meet a new person who changes your life, or have an earth-shattering, eye-opening experience that makes you question everything you know. You might have a perspective shift, a “what’s the meaning of life?” moment.
Okay, what am I getting at?
I love this blog with my heart. It’s been a fun hobby for the last couple years. I’ve made a little money from it and it has given me the chance to showcase my love for cooking and baking. It’s given me a chance to help readers like you eat healthier and live healthier. It’s been my creative outlet, allowing me hone new skills like photography and the science behind cake-baking.
I still enjoy all those things. The kitchen is my home and I love to prepare meals for friends and family. Cooking and baking is what I know and it’s how I express love.
It’s because of those things, though, that I’ve really stepped back from it. It was starting to feel a bit more like a chore and a to-do list than something fueled by love and passion.
I started Well-Fed Soul with the intention to help people and their families eat healthier, making the change to more natural ingredients, cutting down on inflammatory foods like sugar and gluten, etc.
And while I love that, I just felt like my heart wasn’t fully aligned with it.
The Transition to Health Coaching
A few years ago, I began having digestive issues that led me to see a GI specialist. Despite doing “everything right”, I was very constipated, bloated, stressed, anxious, fatigued, and wasn’t sleeping. I was told to drink more water and pills were tossed at me. Pills I didn’t want to take. I had no idea what was going on with my body, but I didn’t want medication, I wanted answers.
Together my husband and I started searching for remedies. Water on an empty stomach, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, a cleaner diet, yoga and stress management. Some things worked and some didn’t. I eventually stumbled into functional medicine and the Paleo diet. I started listening to Chris Kresser’s podcasts and a whole new world opened up to me. With the right supplements, the right diet, and LESS exercise, my GI issues began to heal slowly. I started intermittent fasting, which actually helped alleviate some of the bloating. I began to feel better. I had better exercise tolerance/recovery, was less anxious, slept WAY better, and was finally having regular bowel movements.
So late last year, I started the ADAPT functional medicine course with Chris Kresser. I saw how functional medicine transformed my own life and wanted to help other women do the same. Digestive issues, hormone imbalances, and autoimmune disease are so incredibly common now. And our conventional medicine system just isn’t equipped to handle it. I began health coaching out of a passion for health, wellness, and nutrition, knowing that I could do far more good than I felt like I was currently doing.
I wanted to be helping clients investigate for the root cause of their symptoms because I know how frustrating it is to be told “I don’t know, probably IBS – here’s a pill that you may or may not need forever. Sorry you don’t feel well.”.
Ahhh, here we go! The super exciting moment I can’t wait to share!
I became ADAPT trained a couple months ago and am finally able to offer my holistic health coaching services!
I’m SO incredibly passionate about functional health coaching, it’s ridiculous.
All those recipes I’ve put out that are Paleo, gluten free, gut friendly, etc. – it was for a reason. This is where my heart and soul are. In helping women who’ve been suffering from digestive issues (like IBS, bloating, IBD) and hormonal imbalances (like irregular periods, PCOS, endometriosis, thyroid symptoms, fatigue and brain fog) get to the root cause of their symptoms and help unlock their own self-healing power.
I believe that the body is one whole – not a collection of separate systems. Everything related to our health begins in the gut; it’s the key to unlocking optimal health and wellness. The key to taking back the life your health stole from you.
The differences I’ve seen already have been incredible. Stomach pain and brain fog completely lifted just by eliminating gluten. Coming off medications for Crohn’s Disease just by changing diet. It’s astonishing, and it works.
Who I Work With
You can head on over to my coaching site to learn more about who I work with and what areas I specialize in, but here’s the quick run-down:

- Women with period problems, irregular periods, amenorrhea, PCOS, endometriosis, and Post-Birth Control Syndrome
- Brain fog

- Autoimmune conditions
- Thyroid symptoms
How functional health coaching is different
There are SO many different types of health coaches out there now. And so many different programs.
What I do is different. I consider myself a holistic health coach in that I take a whole-body approach to health and wellness. I believe all our systems are interconnected in complex, intricate ways, and we can’t just address one system (like the heart or the gut) without the others being affected or involved. I use an ancestral approach to nutrition and evidence-based supplements while helping you investigate for the root cause of symptoms with testing you can order on your own. I use a customized, individualized approach to unlock your body’s own healing power through food & nutrition, stress management, sleep, movement, and more, to get you back to optimal health.
